About this book
al-Futūḥāt al-Makkiyya by Ibn ʿArabī (1165-1240) is the Sufi master’s encyclopaedia of mystical cosmology. Among its approximately 1,500 chapters, chapter 198 sets out the 28-letter Arabic alphabet mapped onto the 12 zodiac signs and the 7 planets, the letters as the substance of creation. The complete nine-volume edition (Dār al-Kutub al-ʿIlmiyya) is hosted as nine image-scan PDFs.
Relevance to this project
The closest non-Hebrew sibling of the Sefer Yetzirah letter-astronomy in the Sufi idiom: chapter 198’s 28-letter / 12-sign / 7-planet cosmology is the Islamic mirror of the 3-mothers / 7-doubles / 12-simples - the Revelations cross-cultural witness (Revelations: Sufi).
