Transcendental Magic (Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie)

Eliphas Lévi (tr. A. E. Waite) · 1854-56 / 1896 ed. · English (from French)

About this book

Transcendental Magic by Eliphas Lévi (Alphonse-Louis Constant, 1810-1875) is the 19th-century re-synthesis of the Western magical tradition - the Sefer Yetzirah letter-astrology, the Tarot-astronomy correspondence, the Astral Light and the Baphomet sigil. Waite’s complete 1896 English translation (Dogme + Rituel, both parts) is hosted here.

Relevance to this project

The conduit from the Renaissance (Agrippa) to the Golden Dawn: Lévi re-united the letter-astronomy, the Tarot and the planetary sigils into the modern magical synthesis the mage-lineage descends from (mages: Eliphas Lévi).
